Scott Eggenton Sensei will seriously consider input from all students for the building of a safe Aikido community.   Roles held by current students: Logo Design Grading certificate layout & design Poster designs Member card design Social & Events co-ordinator SSA Camp co-ordinator Facebook Admin     CHIEF INSTRUCTOR:   Scott Eggenton Sensei   Scott Eggenton Sensei has 22+ years experience in Aikido and has more than 18 years experience in teaching.   Scott Sensei is one of the most experienced Children's Aikido Instructors in Australia having amassed more than 1800 teaching hours to junior students alone!   Scott Sensei is a 4th Degree Black belt in Aikido. This grade is the highest "Technical" Grade his Master tested for.   Scott Sensei was a direct student of Seiichi Sugano Shihan (in turn a direct student of O'Sensei Ueshiba Morihei, founder of Aikido).   Scott Sensei is a passionate and dedicated Aikido Instructor having lived as an Uchi Deshi (live in student) to Master David Brown for 8 years at the Zen Arts Training Centre, Christmas Hills.   "I wish for you to feel assured that you and/or your children should feel safe, supported and well looked after in the structures, training and organisation of Southern Schools of Aikido"   Scott Eggenton Sensei    
• <H3> Defining what Aikido is.
• <H4> Aikido: The martial art of Harmony.   Non aggressive - Non Competitive.   Aikido is a Japanese Martial Art made up of three characters, Ai "harmony"  Ki "life energy" or "spirit" and  Do "method" or "The way" and when combined can read as: "Way of harmonising your spirit" The founder of Aikido, O'Sensei Ueshiba Morihei, equated the "Ai" of Aikido as not so much "Harmony" or "Unity" but that of "Love" or "Affection". So another way to translate Aikido is "The way of love with the spirit of all things"  Pronounced Aye - Key - Doe, Aikido has a multitude of facets and can mean many different things to each individual. The lesson structure is such that it is most suited to children, regardless of gender, or fitness.   There are no competitions or tournaments in Aikido!   One of the most defining characteristics of Aikido is that it is non competitive, quite unlike almost every other Self Defense styles.   There is a holistic approach to each situation with a blending and harmony of universal energy with the self. This can then lead on to an immobilisation without causing detriment to the practitioner or the other person if required.   This promotes a friendly, safe and enjoyable atmosphere in class for children to study, learn and train in. • <H4> Southern Schools of Aikido currently has 2 dojo operating in Kew & Fairfield.   Kew:   23 Highbury Gr Kew, Vic, 3101   Monday         4.30 - 5.30pm  Open Juniors     Fairfield:   85 - 87 Gillies St (entry via rear gateway on Duncan st) Fairfield, Vic, 3078     Tuesday         4:45 - 5:45pm  Open Juniors   Wednesday   5 - 6:00pm       Graduate Juniors   Wednesday   6 - 6.45pm       Advanced Teens   Wednesday   7 - 8.30pm       Adults Classes            NB: Children's martial arts classes are conducted during the Victorian School Term.   School Term Dates:                     2017   Term 1: Feb 1 - Mar 31     Term 2: Apr 13 - Jun 30     Term 3: Jul 17 - Sep 22 Term 4: Oct 9 - Dec 22       Fees & Membership:Yearly membership to Southern Schools of Aikido is pro rata each term as at the 1st of January.   Class/training fees are set as a single 'School Term Fee' of $110 per school term. Term fees are to be paid on commencement of each new school term.   Payment Methods: Cash, Direct Deposit or Bitcoin.
